Men's Physique

A: Up to and including 170 cm (approx. 5’ 7”)
B: Up to and including 176 cm (approx. 5’ 9”)
C: Up to and including 179 cm (approx. 5’ 10-1/2”)
D: Up to and including 182 cm (approx. 5’ 11-1/2”)
E: Over 182 cm (approx. 5’ 11-1/2”)
Open classes are open to male athletes 16 years of age or older. Athletes under the age of 18 must complete a parental consent form.

Masters A – 40 – 49 years of age
Masters B – 50 years of age and over
Masters competitors must be within the age parameters in the calendar year in which they compete.
All classes must have a minimum of 6 competitors. The head judge reserves the right to merge classes at their discretion.

Muscular Men’s Physique is intended for competitors with slightly bigger muscularity than accepted in regular men’s physique. There is only one class for this discipline

Competition Rounds
Presentation (model walk) – competitors walk to centre stage individually and stop to perform 2 – 3 poses then move to line-up on side stage.

The Head Judge will then call up competitors to from a line in groups of approximately five (5) and proceed to request the group to perform quarter turns.

Front stance – right hand on hip or in pocket, legs apart, one leg may be slightly to the side, left arm down, open hand, then full turn to the back.

Side pose – left hand on hip, right shoulder angled towards the judges, right arm down, open hand, left leg straight, right leg slightly back and bent at the knee.

Back stance – right hand on hip or in pocket, legs apart, one leg may be slightly to the side, left arm down, open hand, eyes facing the back of the stage, then full turn to the front facing the judges.

Side pose – right hand on hip, left shoulder angled toward the judges left arm down, open hand, right leg straight, left leg slightly back and bent at the knee.

Final front stance - left hand on hip, legs apart, one leg may be slightly to the side right arm down, open hand.

Judges will have the opportunity to compare competitors against each other in quarter turns.


Muscularity and Body Condition
Judges will be looking for fit contestants who display proper shape and symmetry combined with muscularity and overall condition. This is not a bodybuilding contest so extreme muscularity will be marked down.

Stage Presence and Personality
  • Contestants will be asked to walk in board shorts (shorts must be just above the knee in length and can be one inch below the belly button, no spandex and no logos are permitted on the board shorts however a manufacturer's logo such as Nike symbol or Billabongs are acceptable. Board shorts MUST NOT have LARGE manufacturer's logos. They will not be permitted on stage. Small logos are permitting however it cannot run down the leg, or take up a big portion of the trunks. Logo size determination is at the discretion of the Head Judge.
  • Competitors will enter the stage without a shirt and barefoot.
  • No lewd acts are allowed. Athletes will be given one warning. If a second warning is required, the competitor will be asked to leave the stage.
  • Judges are looking for the contestant with the best stage presence and poise who can successfully convey his personality to the audience.
